How a job runs

From your first call to the scaffold coming down

Four stages. Lee handles the survey and the quote himself, and tells you up front if the job needs a licence from the council before anything goes up.

  1. 01

    Tell us about the job

Call Lee or send the form with the location, the job type, a rough size and when your trades start.

  2. 02

    Site survey and written quote

Lee visits and measures the elevation, the ground, the access and the boundaries, then prices the scaffold and the hire period from what he has seen.

  3. 03

    Access arranged and erected

If any part of the scaffold stands on the public pavement we apply to the London Borough of Bromley first. Then we build it, tag it, and inspect it on the statutory seven-day cycle while it is up.

  4. 04

    Work finishes, scaffold comes down

You tell us when the trades are done. We book the strike, take it down and clear the site.

A large Victorian brick villa wrapped in multi-storey scaffold rising to eaves height, with boarded platforms at each floor and a GHM Scaffolding board fixed part-way up.

Who you are dealing with

A Bromley scaffolding company run by the person who quotes the job

GHM Scaffolding Kent Ltd is run by Lee Arnold, working from Bromley across the surrounding area on residential and commercial scaffolding. You speak to Lee when you call, Lee surveys the job, and Lee prices it.

  • You deal with Lee Arnold from the first call to the dismantle.

One named person, not a call centre or a rotating crew.

  • Quotes follow a site survey, not a photo and a guess.

Lee visits before pricing so the figure you get is the figure you pay.

  • Scaffold is inspected on the statutory seven-day cycle and tagged.

Rechecked after bad weather too, and logged on the tag at the ladder.

Where we work

Bromley and the area around it

Bromley is where GHM Scaffolding Kent Ltd is based and where most enquiries start. The town centre mixes commercial frontages on the High Street with Victorian terraces on the roads just off it, so a scaffold often has to work around shop signage or a narrow shared pavement. Where any part of it needs to stand on the public highway, we apply to the London Borough of Bromley for a licence before erection.

  • Beckenham

Victorian and Edwardian terraces with bay windows and short front gardens, so where the base plates can sit gets checked at survey.

  • Chislehurst

Parts of Chislehurst sit within a conservation area, which can affect what a scaffold may look like from the road and how long any related permission takes.

  • Orpington

A busy town centre with commercial frontages alongside residential streets further out, so briefs here range from shopfronts to house roofs.

  • West Wickham

Mostly inter-war semis with driveways and side returns, which usually gives a scaffold room to stand clear of the pavement.

  • Petts Wood

A planned 1930s suburb with consistent house types on tree-lined roads, so overhanging branches and street trees are worth mentioning when you enquire.

  • Shortlands

Narrow terraced frontages onto quiet residential roads, where getting materials in is usually the main planning point.

  • Bickley

Larger detached and semi-detached houses that generally give a scaffold more standing room on private ground.

  • Hayes

Inter-war semis and later housing, with parking and access tighter than the plot size suggests on the roads near the railway line.

We also work in Bromley Common, Locksbottom, Keston.
