For homeowners

Residential Scaffolding in Bromley

Safe access for roofing, extensions, rendering, chimney work and general home maintenance, sized to your property at survey.

What we do

Access for the work, not the work itself

GHM Scaffolding Kent Ltd puts up the platform. We do not do the roofing, rendering or building that happens on it. Whoever you have booked for the trade needs a specific working height and reach, and we build to that rather than to a generic house-scaffold template.

A residential scaffold has to do several things at once: protect your garden and drive from a heavy build, keep your front door usable while it is up, keep the neighbour's side clear if the job runs alongside a shared boundary, and come down again as soon as the trades confirm they are finished.

Project types

What homeowners usually need scaffold for

  • Roofing

A roof scaffold usually needs a working platform at gutter height with a guardrail the full length of the elevation. We size it to the pitch and the trade's access needs, not a fixed template.

  • Extensions

A single-storey rear extension often needs scaffold on a side return with a shared boundary close by, so access and standing room are checked carefully at survey.

  • Renovation

Full renovations sometimes need scaffold across more than one elevation at once, so we sequence the build to keep at least one route into the house open.

  • Painting and rendering

A render or repaint scaffold needs a stable, level platform the full working width, often held up longer than a roofing job while the finish cures.

  • Chimney work

Chimney access needs a platform right up at roof level, usually with an independent tower rather than a scaffold tied to a lower elevation.

  • Repairs

Smaller repair jobs, a section of guttering or a single wall, often need a compact tower rather than a full elevation scaffold. Tell us the job and we will confirm the right size.

What to expect

From booking to taking it down

  1. 01

    Before we arrive

Move any cars off the drive, clear a path along the elevation, and let your neighbour know if the job runs close to their boundary.

  2. 02

    On the day

Erection is often a single day for a straightforward two-storey house front. Larger or more complex jobs take longer and are confirmed at survey.

  3. 03

    While it is up

The scaffold carries an inspection tag from day one, rechecked every seven days and after bad weather. Ring us if anything looks disturbed.
